Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi Book Review

Title: Ignite Me

Author: Tahereh Mafi

Genre: Young Adult/Dystopian/Romance

Pages: 408

Format: Paperback

Rating: 4/5 stars

Goodreads Synopsis: With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.

The Shatter Me series is perfect for fans who crave action-packed young adult novels with tantalizing romance like Divergent by Veronica Roth, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Legend by Marie Lu. Tahereh Mafi has created a captivating and original story that combines the best of dystopian and paranormal, and was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and satisfying end.

Spoiler-Free Thoughts:

This review will probably be a bit shorter than normal because it’s the third book in the series, I can’t say much without spoiling.

As always Tahereh’s writing was beautiful. I can’t wait for her new book, I don’t even know what it’s about, all I know is that it comes out in August, I just need more of her writing.

Once again, the characters are likeable and amusing to read about, I didn’t hate anyone which is good because hating a character usually hinders my reading experience.

Again, there wasn’t really envy world building but at this point I wasn’t really expecting it so it’s not like I was disappointed by that.

The only thing is I didn’t like who Juliette ended up with, but I also didn’t really like the guy she didn’t end up making with. (If you’ve read the series you’ll know who I’m talking about.)

This series in total is about 4/5 stars for me. If you are a big dystopian fan then I would definitely recommend it, it’s better than a lot of dystopians I’ve read. I tend to not like dystopians because I don’t love them as much but I really really enjoyed this series! If you ar a fan of beautiful and incredibly metaphoric writing I would suggest you pick up the first book in the series Shatter Me. 🙂

Another New Book From J.K. Rowling?!

All us Harry Potter lovers are having a pretty good year when it comes to Harry Potter related things. With Fantastic Beasts coming out, the new Harry Potter world that opened, the play in London, the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child book coming out and The Chamber of Secrets Illustrated Editon coming out in the fall, who expected the news that arrived earlier today. ANOTHER BOOK.

J.K. Rowling has announced through Pottermore that on Noveber 19th Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them the screenplay will be published!

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!! They are right to say “A new book from J.K. Rowling is always a good reason to celebrate.” So much Harry Potter related things are happening/have happened this year I’m going to EXPLODE, of happiness of course!!!

Let me know below, did you here about this yet or is this your first time? If not, check out the Pottermore page about it here. ARE YOU AS EXCITED AS I AM?

Different Ways To Organize Your Shelves

Hey everyone! Yesterday I reorganized my shelves twice… all 236 of the books. It was a lot of work. You are probably wondering why I reorganized it twice. I tried to do rainbow shelves and then once they were done I didn’t like how the series weren’t together and I just didn’t like the way they looked so I reorganized them back to how I normally have them. I have so many paper cuts and scratches now from books falling yikes.

But now they look wonderful and I’m super happy with the way they look! It’s different then they were before but I stil similar how I like it.

I am thankful for all that organizing though because it gave me the idea for this post! Different ways to organize your shleves! Everyone is different and some people don’t care too much how their shelves look but I personally need the to look super organized and perfect.

As you can see I’ve got a lot of books, not all of them are even in this picture, I have another mini shelf and some at the bottom that didn’t make it into the picture. Needless to say, I have to keep my books organized!

SO, here are six different ways to organize your shelves! Hope you enjoy!

#1: Height

This is one third of how I do my shelves but organizing books by height (all normal sized hard covers together, all tap hard covers together etc) always looks super put together and satisfying. A great way to organize!

#2: Colour

RAINBOW SHELVES! They either work or they don’t. About a year ago when I didn’t have as big of a collection I did rainbow shelves for a bit and I loved them!! Since my collection has grown they tend to not work when I try it out. I have too many black/dark and white books. But agood way to organize smaller collections of books or perhaps if you have a smaller shelf or a tbr shelf, you could organize them in a rainbow.

#3: Author

This is the second third of the way I organize my shelves, all series together and authors that I have multiple books from go all together, it’s a great mix with height and my next way, genre.

#4: Genre

All contemporaries together, all fantasy series together, it’s pretty self explanatory but a great way to arrange your shelves.

#5: Favourites closer to the top

I tend to do this not even on purpose, but putting books you enjoyed more, closer to the top and then ones you didn’t really love closer to the bottom making your favourites seen more and more accessible.

#6: To be read and read shelves

Seperating the books you’ve read and books you’ve yet to read onto two different shelves. I’ve seen this done a lot. I’ve also seen people organize their ‘read’ shelves super neatly and then do a rainbow with their ‘to be read’ shelf.

There are six different ways to organize your shelves, I organize mine by height and genre but also by author because if authors have multiple books I’ll put them together and I of course put series together.

Let me know below, how do you organize tour shelves! I hope you have a good day!

5 Reasons Why… I’m Excited For ‘The Trials Of Apollo’

Hey everyone!! Since I started my blog back in September I’ve always wanted to do a ‘series’ reoccurring kind of thing where I talked about books I love or books I don’t love as much so that is what this is! I’ll be starting to do posts called ‘5 Reasons Why’ and I think the name is a bit self explanatory but I will give 5 reasons why I love a certain book or movie or ship. You get the idea right?? 😂

So happy first post to my new series. Today I’ll be sharing my 5 Reasons Why I’m Excited For ‘The Trials Of Apollo”.

For those of you don’t know, The Trials of Apollo is a new book series that is coming out (the first one coming out in May) written by Rick Riordan. It takes place after the war in the last Heroes of Olympus book and the main character and narrator is the god himself, Apollo. Zeus has punished him by turning him into a 16 year old boy and it’ll follow his adventures.img_3393-1#1: Its in the Percy Jackson world… that alone has me sold.

Greek mythology is just one of my favourite things and after ten books in the Percy Jackson world I am not ready for the books to stop… Rick, just keep them coming!

#2: First person point of view!!

First person POV is my favourite because you are in the characters head and get to know all their thoughts.

#3: All of the chapter names are HAIKUS .

Okay I don’t know about you but I love small things in books like chapter names or drawings that add a little more to a book and the fact that the chapter names are haikus makes it even better.

#4: 2 Riordan books a year… what is this madness?

With The Trials of Apollo series and the Magnus Chase series that’ll be two books from Rick for the next few years at the least because you know he loves to just throw in those other books like ‘Percy Jacksons Greek Gods’ and such every now and then.

#5: Fimiliar characters!

We get to see everyone again! Percy, Annabeth, Hazel, Piper, Jason, Frank, NICO!!! Everyone! And Coach Hodge’s baby!!!!! Everything’s going perfect… well until Rick throws a ‘The Mark of Athen’ plot twist at us.img_3393-1I hope you guys like this new idea for a series on my blog!! Let me know, are you anticipating The Trails of Apollo? What is one reason why you are? Have a good day!

The Hamilton Book Tag!

Hey bookworms! So a little bit ago I listened to the Hamilton soundtrack and I’m OBSESSED. It’s SO GOOD. I’d heard so many people talk about it and it was on the Oscars and such so I knew about it but I didn’t ever listen to it, but then the other day after school I fell down the hole of the 45 song soundtrack of Hamilton the musical.

Naturally I had to do the book tag associated with it. I hardly ever do book tags and I feel bad because I get tagged in them loads but I never get around to them. And here I am doing a tag when I have been tagged in a million others… Oops.

NOW ON WITH THE HAMILTON TAG!!! (Note: I used Harry Potter multiple times I’m sorry, I tried being diverse but I just love Harry Potter.)

The Room Where It Happens: A book you would put yourself in.

Okay, okay, everyone probably said this but Harry Potter because well, magic, Hogwarts and… it’s Harry Potter.

The Schuyler Sisters: An underrated female character.

Leisel from The Book Thief. Ugh I don’t know how to explain my reasoning why without spoiling but when you think about it she is such a strong young woman.

My Shot: A character who goes for what they want no matter what.

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. She wanted President Snow dead and se wanted to be the one to kill him and well… we know how that went.

Stay Alive: A character you wish was still alive.

Basically every book character that’s died that was a good person. Vague but true.

Burn: The most heartbreaking end to a relationship.

If you’ve read The Fault in our Stars you know what I’m talking about. The saddest part is they didn’t break up, life just got in the way in the worst way possible.

You’ll Be Back: Sassiest villain.

I don’t really read many sassy-villain novels (the villains are usually just over confident in themselves) but I’d have t go with the Insidious Humdrum from the one and only, Carry On.

The Reynolds Pamphlet: A twist you didn’t see coming.

I don’t want to say anything for this question because if I say a book then people who haven’t read the book will know there’s a twist coming!!

Non-Stop: A series you marathoned.

I actually just marathoned this series, the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. I love marathoning series except now I’m sad the series is over. 😦

Satisfied: Favourite book with multiple P(oint)O(f)V(iews)s.

I don’t read many books with more than out POV but I love the Heroes of Olympus series a lot and that’s multiple POVs from characters who I love lots.

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story: A book you feel will remembered throughout history.

Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry Potter.

Helpless: A relationship you were pulling from the very start.

Linus and Audrey from Finding Audrey! They are just so cute!!

Ten Duel Commandments: Favourite fight scene.

I don’t read too many action filled books but the scene at the dueling club in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was pretty intense if I do say so myself.

Say No To This: Guilty pleasure.

A good guilty pleasure for me is Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda which is actually my favourite contemporary but I do find myself picking it up lots, especially when getting out of slumps because it’s just so cute and I love it so much.

What Comes Next: A series you wish had more books.

Harry Potter, and well I guess my wish is coming true with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming out in July!!!

What’d I Miss: A book series you were late to reading.

Instead of saying a book series I was late to reading I’m going to say a series that I have yet to read but everyone is obsessedddddd with it and that is none other than the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. They are long high fantasy books, that I don’t own and that’s my only excuse for not reading them yet haha yikes.img_3393-1

There’s my answers to the Hamilton book tag!! I’m not going to be tagging anyone because I don’t know who loves Hamilton and who doesn’t but if you love Hamilton you should definitely do this tag. It’s super fun that every question goes with a song!

Now I must be off to go back to listening to Hamilton but let me know in the comments, do you like musicals? Which musical is your favourite? Mine is probably Wicked but Hamilton is making its way up there, that’s for sure.img_5309-5

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi Book Review

Title: Unravel Me

Author: Tahereh Mafi

Genre: Young Adult, Dystopian

Pages: 461

Format: Paperback

Rating: 4/5 stars

Goodreads Synopsis:

it’s almost

time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance. She’s finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch. Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible. In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam’s life.

Spoiler Free Thoughts:

This is just going to be a shorter review because my thoughts are similar to my thoughts on the first book. (Click here for my Shatter Me full review)

Overall I do have to say I liked the first book better. There was no more world building in this one than the last, so I was still confused about what happened before the series and why the war was started and such.

Again, Tahereh’s writing is so beautiful. I am so in love with it, especially her metaphors. I can 100% see myself rereading this series, or at least Shatter Me, solely for the writing.

I am still loving all the characters. Juliette sometimes gets on my nerves but other than that I love Kenji and James a lot. As for Adam and Warner, I don’t particularly love either of them but I don’t hate them. I also hate love triangles so that might be a reason for me not liking either of them.

In the end I gave this book 4/5 stars, it was really good and I’m enjoying reading the series, I can for sure see how people love these books, dystopians and love triangles aren’t my favourite that’s all. 🙂

The New Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Tralier!!!

So this past Sunday night a new ‘teaser’ trailer for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them dropped AND OH MY GOODNESS. I’m overwhelmed, in a good way, in need this movie now.

I wouldn’t even call this trailer a teaser because it definitely gave us more than the first trailer. We now know a little more about the story line, putting pieces from the two trailers together we know that Newt Scmander is travelling overseas to America, New York to be exact and he brings over a suit case full of magical creatures. But then, they escape. It sounds so good I can’t even.

It also mentioned Dumbledore!!!! That gives me hope of seeing characters from the Harry Potter series in the film! Also I just got so happy when Hedwigs Theme was playing in the back ground. I’m sooooooo excited to be back in the Wizarding World.

I also can’t wait for the prescreening of it and dressing up in all (or everything I can manage to wear) my Harry Potter stuff, it’ll just be amazing. And with the new book coming out (WHICH I AM SOOOOOOOO EXCITED FOR. EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT I WANT TO CRY OF HAPPINESS) this year is just overall so much Harry Potter and I’m loving it.

Those are my thoughts/excitment about the trailer, how about you? Have you watched the new trailer yet? What did you think of it? Are you as excited as I am for the movie? Let me know in the comments!
